DESCRIPTION: France, large gilt bronze mantel clock, seated male figure with scrolls and laurel wreath above an acanthus molded base on Grecian scrolled feet, front with interlocking wreaths, two of which contain lightning, and with a spear behind, beaded bezel with beveled glass, Roman numeral white enamel dial with blued steel hands, 8 day time and count wheel strike pendule a Paris movement signed "Pons", pendulum with silk thread suspension, case back also with glazed bezel, c1840
CONDITION: the gilding which remains is very good, but areas without gilding have likely been stripped of their original colored patination, case dirty and with polish residue, dial with minor flakes and hairlines, small paper shim visible at 6:00, hands correct, minute repaired, both hands with minor rust, bezels and glasses good, movement dirty, ticks and strikes, would benefit from service, pendulum replaced, Ht 22"
